Chapter Projects and Activities
Francis Hopkinson-Monmouth Court House Chapter Daughters are actively involved in a number of projects and activities that support the mission of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, while also contributing to their local community. The chapter as a whole reviews its selections annually, and decides on the work and events that most appeal to its members.
Caring for our troops
Members bring donations of snack items, reading materials, and personal care items to monthly meetings to be shipped to active military personnel stationed overseas. The personnel receiving the goods are always friends or family members of our own Francis Hopkinson-Monmouth Court House Daughters.
Menlo Park Veterans Home
Members donate personal care items, holiday gifts, and their own time to those hospitalized at the Menlo Park Veterans Home. Golf outings, carnivals, and sing-alongs are some of the activities in which Francis Hopkinson-Monmouth Court House Daughters have participated.
The chapter collects gently-used paperbacks for this non-profit, volunteer organization that sends them to American troops deployed overseas. Learn more about Operation Paperback.
Children of the American Revolution
The chapter sponsors the Battle of Monmouth Society of the C.A.R., which is the nation's oldest, largest, patriotic youth organization. C.A.R. activities focus on patriotism, service, and education about our American heritage.
Many members of the Francis Hopkinson-Monmouth Court House Chapter enjoy genealogy and lineage research. To that end, there are chapter, state, and national DAR resources to aid members and prospective members in their research. Annually, the chapter hosts a "Supplemental Saturday" event; this is a casual day spent enjoying each other's company while adding branches to that family tree.
The NSDAR's national convention, called Continental Congress, is held each year in Washington, D.C., at DAR's own Memorial Continental Hall and Constitution Hall. DAR Headquarters is one of the world’s largest buildings of its kind owned and maintained exclusively by women. Francis Hopkinson-Monmouth Court House Daughters get involved in Continental Congress as delegates, pages, and committee members. Congress is a wonderful place to meet and make new friends.
